The Human Rights Commission of Belize publicly condemn the misconduct of Elvin Penner

The Human Rights Commission of Belize (HRCB), one of the oldest NGOs in the country, issued a press release in which they publicly condemned the reproachable misconduct which the former Minister of State Elvin Penner has been associated with. According to the press release, HRCB has joined others in the society who are calling for the appropriate authorities to immediately conduct an extensive investigation of Penner and anyone else who has been involved in the issuing of fraudulent Belizean nationality and passports for personal financial gain. The press release noted that, The danger of selling our passports and nationality and other forms of corruption have been known and discussed for some time since it has been a recurring offence under both political parties.” As a result it stressed that Mr. Penner cannot be above the law. If criminal wrongdoing is uncovered, he must be made to face the consequences of his actions, like any other Belizean. Criminal conduct of this nature must not be minimized with a slap on the wrist…”
