British Belizean David Taylor, an accused paedophile, appeared before the Magistrate Americia De Moya at the Magistrate’s court in Placencia on Wednesday, June 4th to answer to charges of pornographic exploitation of 4 boys in Placencia, and for the crime of having sexual relations with a 13 year old boy made on December 20, 2012.
According to reports made in 2012, police found computers and hard-drives containing pornographic material of young boys from Belize and other countries.
In court yesterday, the prosecutors applied for an adjournment as they were still not ready to provide full disclosure of evidence.
Defence attorney Ellis Arnold objected to this and asked Magistrate Americia De Moya to strike out the case on the basis that the prosecutors have been given enough time since the initial arrest and charge to provide full disclosure of evidence.
The prosecution rebutted saying that the file was with the DPP and was just submitted a month ago. Magistrate Americia De Moya granted a final adjournment for August.
Should the prosecutors fail to provide full disclosure by that time, the accused could be set free of his charges.
It must be noted that in the initial stages of his arraignment David Taylor, 40 years at the time, pleaded guilty to the charges made against him; however, when asked whether he understood the nature of the charges, he replied no. Subsequently, an equivocal not guilty plea was entered in his behalf.
The case goes back to court in August .
