The Thousand Dollar Tour Scam

A man posing as the manager of a tour guide firm made off with over $1 thousand US dollars after he reportedly tricked an American woman into depositing money in an account in exchange for his services. According to Police, on March 12th earlier this year, a 52 year old American woman contacted one Gerson Cordon via email who told her he was the manager of a tour company located in San Pedro Town. As a result, she booked a tour to Guatemala with the said company. That trip was scheduled for yesterday, Wednesday April 15th. The American woman subsequently made charges to her credit card in the sum of $1,000 in US currency for a tour package to Tikal Guatemala. Yesterday, on the day of the scheduled trip she visited the tour company’s office located on the beach front San Pedro Town, but was informed that Gerson Cordon is not employed by the company. Police continue investigations.
