A horse used in the transportation of tourists in Belize City had to be euthanized today, after it received serious injuries. According to reports, a horse pulling a carriage of tourists on Craig street crashed into the back of a trailer after it was frightened by a vehicle which came too close to it.
The animal broke its leg badly and police, Belize Tourism Board and City Council representatives were on the scene to record statements from traumatized tourists about the incident.
We understand that the Belize Humane Society has been advocating for better conditions for the horses used in the horse and carriage tourism industry in Belize City. The Humane Society says that due to the severity of its injuries, the horse had to be put down.
