25 year old Tarique Munnings and a 17 year old minor were jointly charged in relation to that armed robbery of Bowen & Bowen delivery man and others at a Chinese store in Ladyville village that occurred last week. The two were allegedly part of a group of four men who robbed a Bowen and Bowen deliveryman of $2500. The delivery man was conducting business with Chinese shop owner Lung Chu Wong. They also allegedly robbed the Chinese businessman of $900. The duo appeared this morning in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court before Chief Magistrate Sharon Fraser where they were read two counts of robbery to which they pled not guilty. Just before the charges were read to them, the attorney for the 17 year old asked the court to please make note of the teenagers swollen left eye and face; injuries he says he got at the hands of a police corporal while on detention. The minor told the court that there was a group of men in the cell and somehow, one of them managed to smuggle weed into the cell. He claims all the men in the cell were pepper sprayed and he was punched in the face. The magistrate ordered that the minor be taken to hospital for a check up before he is remanded since he could not be granted bail since the crime was committed with a gun. The minor was remanded into custody at the Wagner’s Facility while Tarique Munnings was remanded into custody at the Belize Central Prison until May 18, 2018.
