Two brothers, Eric and Prince Lockwood, are being accused of causing serious injuries to one of their own relatives Nelson Lockwood. Today, one of the brothers was before the court to answer to charges while the other brother is on the run. 26 year old Eric Lockwood, a resident and Farmer of Sand Hill Village was before the court to answer to charges of aggravated assault with an iron bar, aggravated assault with 3 rocks and grievous harm upon his relative. The court prosecutor, Cpl. Dean Augustine, objected to bail being granted to Eric on the grounds that Eric Lockwood if granted bail may try to interfere with his relative who, according to Augustine, is listed in a critical condition at the KHMH. When asked why he should be granted bail, Eric told Magistrate Hamilton that the incident resulted from an old family dispute over land which has been occurring for a long time. and that his uncle who was building a house in the same yard, passed away. After his uncle’s passing his father was left with the home which his relatives did not like that. He said that this incident was not the first time that Nelson disrespected his father. After hearing his explanation, although he pleaded not guilty to all charges, Magistrate Hamilton decided to remand Eric into custody since the condition of his relative is said to be critical. Eric was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until August 27, 2013, when bail will or may be considered on his behalf. His brother, Prince, is yet to be arrested by police.
