Another couple has been reported missing in Corozal and their vehicle found burnt in a cane field. 32-year-old Zeida Orosco of San Andres Village, Corozal District and her boyfriend 41-year-old Baltazar Lopez of Ranchito Village are the missing persons. According to reports, the couple was last seen together at 9:30 p.m. on Thursday June 1 on the beach near Corozo Blue in Corozal Town. On Friday, June 2, Corozal Police were called to a cane field about 2 miles southwest of Patchakan village, where they found Zeida’s Chevy Prizm car completely destroyed by fire. The Corozal Fire Chief has indicated that the vehicle was intentionally set on fire since it did not show any signs of electrical problems. According to Police, Zeida was reported missing by her brother-in-law, 34-year-old Troy Ferguson. He told police that Zeida had left home at 8:10 p.m. in her green Chevy Prism car, saying she was going to Matchies Pool Spot located on 2nd Street North in Corozal Town to take food for her boyfriend. The vehicle discovery gives rise to alarm, especially after the Corozal district is still reeling from the fact that just a few months ago, another couple was reported missing and their vehicle found abandoned in a cane field as well. That couple, 52 year old Francessca Matus and her American boyfriend, 36 year old Drew DeVoursey, were reported missing in April and were eventually found murdered, their bodies dumped in a cane field in the Chan Chen/ Patchakan area. Police investigations continue into this latest missing persons report.
