Two Police Constables Face Charges Of Robbery And Wounding

Police Constables Edgar Depaz and Jefferson Dawson face criminal charges of robbery and wounding, and PC Dawson separately charges of using threatening words and aggravated assaul, for their attack on gas pump attendant Tramane Ciego on September 29.

On Friday, before the Chief Magistrate, Anne Marie Smith, Jefferson Dawson alone was charged with aggravated assault and using threatening words.

They pled not guilty to the charges. They were remanded into custody until November 28.

Tramane Ciego says two officers approached him on Central American Boulevard near North Creek and one of them pointed a firearm at him, searched him and then punched him in the face and kicked him in the chest into a nearby drain, then had $490 stolen from him. He said one of the officers also threatened to kill him.
