On February 12th at about 8:54 p.m., Police were in the process of responding to a report in the area of Queen Charlotte when they observed a male person throwing an object in the area of Racecourse Street. Police say they checked and found a 9 mm pistol with 10 live rounds of ammunition. Police set chase and intercepted the vehicle that the man who threw the object was driving. He was identified as 19 year old Tyree Gentle. Today he was arraigned for Kept firearm without a gun license and Kept ammunition without a gun license. Gentle was also charged with one count of droving a motor vehicle without being the holder of a Belize drivers license. For that traffic offense, Gentle pled guilty and was fined $100 plus a $5.00 cost of court. He was ordered to pay the fine by March 1, or spend a month in prison. As for the two serious gun and ammo related offenses, the unrepresented Gentle pled not guilty. Because of the nature of those offenses, no bail could be offered and Gentle was remanded to prison until his next court date on May 14, 2018.
