Youth With A Mission’s Under 16 football team recently returned from games in Merida, Mexico. The team is coached by Pastor Santi Valencia who, along with his Under Fifteen National Football team returned  from Santo Domingo last November with the countries first gold medal in international football.  The U16 Merida tour last week took the team through four games. Game one was won by Belize in a 4 to 2 score. There was a draw for game two at one to one. They lost game three having scored one goal while their opponents scored two goals. And then in the last game, there was a draw with 2 to 2. Overall, it was a successful tour, so much so that six of the Belizean players have been invited to join the 3rd division team of Gladiadores. Additionally, the team has been invited to a regional tournament in Merida on 26th, 27th and 28th of July at which there will be at least 10 teams participating, 5 of which will be from different states in Mexico. At this tournament, there will be more scouts from different parts of Mexico as well. The team is now soliciting the public’s financial assistance to take the U16 team to that regional tournament in Merida. Donations can be made to Youth With A Mission (YWAM) at 802-2677 0r Santi Valencia at 605-9779 or Lilly Valencia at 624-5686 or email belizeywam@yahoo.com. The team is looking at a budget of BZD$8,000.00.
