14 year old Jamie Braun was rushed to the KHMH yesterday, after he was knocked down by a motorist. The accident happened shortly before 11, in the Spanish Lookout area. Police say a 66 year old Belizean resident and Missionary of Las Flores, was driving his Dodge Ram Van on Center Road. She was just about to turn into LP Gas Station when she hit the 14 year old, who was on a motorcycle, travelling in the opposite direction. When Police arrived at the scene, they saw the wrecked motorbike wedged underneath the front portion of the van. The van was completely intact. The under aged driver sustained head and body injuries, while the driver of the van was detained pending charges. The motorbike did not have a license plate.
A councilor of the Dangriga Town Council had a very frightening experience on Monday night, while travelling on Ecumenical Drive. Around 11pm, she and another person were in a red SUV, apparently being followed by a dark blue Ford SUV. When they reached the speed bump near Waruguma shed, she saw a clear complexion man point a firearm at her and the driver. They sped off in the direction of the Police Station to make a report. Police say they are investigating.
Meanwhile, in the west, a woman escaped unhurt from a violent robbery attempt. Just after 7pm, in the Santiago Juan Layout, the 30 year old woman was at her door steps, about to enter her house, when she felt someone grab her from behind. The assailant attempted to place his arm around her neck and mouth, but she screamed and managed to run away. He immediately let go of her and ran with what appeared to be a knife in his hand. When she looked in the direction he was running, she saw another man coming out from under the veranda of a house nearby. They both fled from the area. The assailant who attacked the woman, had his head covered with a dark blue shirt, so she wasn’t able to give Police a description of his face. However, she identified him as a Hispanic person, about 5ft and slim built. He was wearing a short faded jeans pants and dark shirt. If anyone has any information of who this person might be, contact your nearest Police Station.
