There is also an update on the Orange Walk murder which we reported in yesterday’s newscast. A broad daylight shooting claimed the life of 18 year old Derrick Romero, of Settee River Street, Louisiana Area, Orange Walk Town. The incident occurred sometime after 10 am on Wednesday March 6th while Romero was inside his yard along with others. Today we spoke to Assistant Superintendent Selvin Tillett, Deputy Officer Commanding Orange Walk Police Station, via phone who told us police are following several leads in this latest homicide.

“At ten-forty-five a.m., acting upon information reciverd, Orange Walk police visited the Northern Regional Hospital where they saw one Derrick Romero, eighteen-years-old Belizean unemployed of number five Sittee River Street, Orange Walk Town suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper left shoulder, his abdomen, center of his back, and back of his neck. He was pronounced dead at eleven-seventeen yesterday. Initial investigation revealed that sometime around or after ten-thirty-five a.m on the 6th of May, Derrick was along with others were inside his yard when a dark complexion person reached on a bicycle fired shots at him causing the fatal injuries. Police continue their investigations at this moment.”
