The U.S Embassy in Belmopan has announced a new funding opportunity to strengthen civil society and civil servant capacity through partnership. The funding is intended to support U.S. Government objectives under the Central America Regional Security Initiative (CARSI) to support democracy and governance efforts in Belize. According to a release, the Embassy intends to issue tree to five awards valued at over one million two hundred thousand dollars in total funding. The release further states that proposed projects periods should not exceed two years, and the anticipated start date for successful proposals is September 28th, 2018. Proposed projects should address the strengthening of civil society organizations and civil servants’ knowledge and skills to develop policies/procedures aimed at reducing corruption and impunity or improved accountability. Proposed projects can also be geared towards the increase and enhancement of civil society and government partnership to improve service delivery and accountability.
