On Thursday residents of Hopkins and the neighbouring communities of Stann Creek held a candle light vigil in memory of slain teacher Josephine Augustine, where they marched around the village calling out for justice.
After the vigil residents and sympathizers alike held a small rally in the center of the village.

PlusTV found out on Thursday that several Belizean Americans in the US are standing in solidarity with the community of Hopkins over the murder of the Belizean teacher. Belizean Americans donned purple clothing as they went about their daily business. With social media, many in the Diaspora are now able to be more in tune and aware of what is happening in Belize.
