Business owners and vendors are being advised to be on the lookout for counterfeit currency.
On Friday February 6, police visited the Michael Finnegan Market located at the Corner of Cemetery Road and West Collet Canal, and spoke to several fruit vendors who handed over seven 20 dollar bills having the same serial number.
Also, on Monday February 9, police visited the Belize Bank located on Albert Street, Belize, where the teller handed over a counterfeit $50.00 bill.
All notes have been confirmed to be counterfeit.
If anyone comes across counterfeit bills, they are asked to notify the police immediately.
