PlusNews has been reliably informed that Area representative for the Freetown division, and former PUP party leader, Hon. Francis Fonseca, was asked earlier today to re-enter the race for the party Leadership! The request was made to Hon Fonseca at a meeting attended by 6 PUP representatives and 5 standard bearers. We understand that all three area representatives of the Southern Caucus, and Standard bearer for Dangriga, Anthony Sabal, who was not at the meeting, spearheaded the push to have Fonseca return as leader, or at least have him enter his name for the coveted post. The deadline for entry is 15th December, which is next week tuesday, and all indications are that Fonseca is heavily contemplating the offer. Fonseca stepped down from leadership following the November 4th general elections defeat at the polls. Other leaders of the PUP that have voiced some interest in the post for Party leadership include Past party leader Hon Johnny Briceno, Hon Cordel Hyde of Lake Independence, and Senator Lisa Shoman . Other names such as Hon Kareem Musa, who recently won the Caribbean Shores seat for the PUP and Hon Julius Espat, Cayo South representative and Deputy party leader have also been mentioned for the post. We will not know for certain until nominations are made on December 15th. . By early next week PlusNews will have an update for our viewers as well as a copy of the letter submitted that makes the request.
