Today, 22 year old Wilser Echeveria was found guilty of manslaughter and not murder. That was the verdict handed down today in the Belmopan Supreme Court. Echeveria was charged with the 2014 murder of 64 year old Panamanian Diplomat Jose Rodrigo De La Rosa Stanford. The Diomat’s body was found lying next to a creek in the out skirts of Belmopan. Echeveria was charged for the murder, which he claimed was self-defense due to an attempted sexual assault on him by the diplomat. Echeveria said that as the diplomat tried to force himself on Echeveria. He found a knife in the pocket of the car door which he says he defended himself with. In fright, he discarded of the body. When cops arrested Echeveria, they found the diplomat’s phone in his possession. The court has agreed it was not murder but rather manslaughter. Judge Antoinette Moore has reserved sentencing for July 31.
