World Bank predicts small growth for Belize economy

“The Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region is expected to suffer a second consecutive year of recession in 2016, the first double-year contraction in more than 30 years.” That is a direct quote from the World Bank’s latest Economic Prospects Report. The report says Poor weather conditions in Belize and Haiti have taken a toll on agricultural production, contributing to a significant slowdown in overall growth in 2015.”  While that is not good news, Belize is still forecast to see a miniscule GDP growth of 0.8 for 2016, according to the World Bank projections.  That growth projection continues into 2017 at 1.9 and in 2018 at 2.2, the World Bank says.
